The Behaviour Support App was the final project I worked on as part of my Masters Degree in Computing and Information Systems at Queen Mary University of London.
A special school (for children with special educational needs or a disability) in west London had created some effective tools to help staff record behavioural data, but these were de-centralised and difficult for some staff to navigate and use. The collected data is used to support the children and staff in their time at school and at home – to help all care givers better understand the children’s experiences throughout the day, week year and beyond.
For this project, I built an iOS app to be deployed on the school’s iPads and used as a single tool to record and analyse the data. Staff were able to record the general behaviour of children during each time period of the school day, and also any important behavioural incidents that occurred. Staff could then also view analysis of the collected through some graphics visualisations that show trends for individuals or groups over the course of a week or day.
